Research Comments: | Drummer Kenny Washington remembers this session: “Rudy gets the best snare drum sound, and the best cymbal sound – better than anybody. I made a record out there with Tommy Flanagan, called The Jazz Poet – that is the best drum sound that I ever got. I was very proud of that record; that record really helped me out a lot. He captured – he really got my sound on the brushes, too, on that record. That’s the best record that I made with a band out there.” Some of these tracks were recorded on January 19. |
