Research Comments:This session was scheduled for the previous day, but had to be postponed due to the birth of Gibb’s son, Gerry. Overnight the vibist wrote the tune “8 lbs., 10 oz.” to mark the occasion. “I flew in Louis Hayes and Sam Jones from wherever they were with Cannonball Adderley. And my son was born that day. Gerry was born on January 15th. So we had to cancel the date and come back the next day. They had to fly back and then fly back again the next day – isn’t that wild?”
