Research Comments:This was Philly Joe Jones’ first date at Englewood Cliffs since 1966. During some of his earlier sessions in Hackensack Rudy had taped the drummer’s hilarious imitations of Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula. Don Sickler: “The session was just about ready to dissolve, due to management in the booth stopping a track that was going great for some reason no one knew. And Philly Joe was just pissed. I mean, the session was deteriorating. And all of a sudden, over the headphones, Rudy plays something from one of those things, and just got everybody completely laughing and in hysterics. And Rudy saved the day.”
