Research Comments: | Album jacket contains A NOTE FROM THE ENGINEER, Dr. Rudolph Van Gelder: βIt has been roughly two years since we made our first safari to the West Point Organ. During this time extensive work has been done on the organ. One of the most notable improvements has been that the noise of the blowers has been reduced to a minimum. This has permitted us to record the more subtle textures of the organ sound. Concurrently, with this building program stereo has become available on records. Now, we can present the organ with an added dimension. The West Point Organ is huge β its two main bays of pipes are separated by a distance of approximately 50 feet. Stereo permits this distance to be represented on the record.β |
