Research Comments: | In his liner notes Stanley Dance says of “Oh, Lady Be Good”: “The take heard here was, incidentally, the only one made. It was the first performance on the session, and Basie and his men felt it was good as they hurried into the control room to hear the playback. When they came out, they were a little incredulous. It seldom happens that the first run-down is satisfactory. ‘One take – crazy!’ said Basie.” Same date as Frank Wess Prestige session. |
Status Notes: | This session took place on the same date as another Rudy Van Gelder session. |
