Research Comments: | This album was not released until 1978, and was withdrawn shortly thereafter at Rollins’ request. An uncredited review in Downbeat magazine’s issue of August 12, 1965, reprinted on the album jacket, noted that rain fell throughout the performance, but did not dampen Rollins’ or the audience’s spirits. Three weeks later the saxophonist re-recorded the first two of these titles in Van Gelder’s Englewood Cliffs studio (see July 8). |
