Research Comments: | Of this session Davis wrote, “I remember Jackie got so high he got terrified he couldn’t play. I don’t know what that shit was all about, but after this date, I never used Jackie again.”* In 2001 McLean told me, “I had a dispute with Miles, and so I left the date early. It was something between Miles and I. As I look back on it, it was something very silly on my part, because he was giving me a record date and, I don’t know, I sort of pulled a tantrum on him.” * Miles Davis, Miles: The Autobiography (with Quincy Troupe), Simon & Schuster, 1989. |
