Research Comments: | Ira Gitler attended this session “to scout it for Bob Weinstock when I was working for Prestige. He sent me out there on, I think it was a Sunday [sic]. Phil and Tony and Bill Triglia and Red Mitchell did, just like a demo. And I brought them back, and the acetates were lost for years – I guess they were in Weinstock’s office. You know, it wasn’t intended to be a record date, but those guys played so beautifully.” These tracks were eventually issued in 1981 by Don Schlitten on Xanadu as part of Be-Bop Revisited, Vol. 3, and later on Jazz Factory as part of Tony’s Blues. |
