Research Comments: | From Hank O’Neal’s producer’s notes: “An integral part of this project was Rudy Van Gelder’s equally unique abilities. This date was done live to two track. In other words what Rudy heard was mixed and recorded live with no room for mistakes. The end result is exceptional. Rudy tells me this was the last one, that he ‘retired’ from live two track recording with this date except for solo pianists. Well, maybe, but anyone who can rise to this challenge so well should never set any limitations on his projects for the future.” Some of these tracks were recorded the following day. |
