Research Comments: | Ron Carter calls this “a very difficult record. It was just bass. There was nothing to cover up any scratches or terrible sound or poor notes. And Rudy captured it right away. We got in the small room. My concern was having the bass fill a smaller area – a room that’s eight-by-ten, rather than a room that’s forty-by-sixty. And [it was] a very great sound, a sound that I show my students – that a bass can sound as good as this.” |
